James' Place is proud to announce its exciting support and partnership with charity advent calendar 'Advent Of Change'...
Brand new for 2018, Advent of Change is the revolutionary charity advent calendar, inviting customers to give back as they count down to Christmas this year.
This social enterprise, which was born less than nine months ago, has already caught the attention of John Lewis & Partners, who will be stocking the calendar in stores throughout the country and online from 4th October.
They have also secured a number of exciting endorsements from household names such as Sir Richard Branson, Lawrence Dallaglio OBE, Virginia Mckenna OBE and Bob Wilson OBE.
Each door reveals a different donation to one of 24 incredible charities, spread across a number of causes, including children, animals, the third world, healthcare, refugees and the environment. The brainchild of Kristina Salceanu, 85% of the sale price will go directly to charity.
Each day represents a £1 donation and describes how that gift could be used to give the recipient a ‘feel-good feeling’ each day, and see exactly how they've helped to change the world for the better, from feeding the homeless to protecting our oceans.
Kristina Salceanu, Founder of Advent of Change, said: “Advent of Change began with one simple idea: to give the gift of giving at Christmas. And that small idea has already taken on a life of its own. Here at Advent of Change we have captured the imagination of so many people already, and we really do believe that this simple concept has the power to change the world.”
She continued: “It was really important to me to ensure we included charities that would be personally meaningful to everybody, which is why we’ve worked hard to include organisations across a wide range of sectors. The response so far has been staggering and I can't wait for the funds raised to start changing the lives of those who need it most. We are extremely proud to be representing these incredible charities.”
This innovative idea comes at a time when alternative advent calendars – for example, those containing beauty items, alcohol and food products – have experienced an astronomic rise in popularity. This, combined with the annual peak in charitable donations during November and December, perfectly positions Advent of Change to use the festive countdown to really make a positive impact.
Advent of Change is made in the UK and has also been designed with the environment in mind, using FSC-certified paper, vegetable oil-based inks and biodegradable glues, and comes wrapped in a biodegradable potato starch film.
About James' Place
James’ Place is an initiative formed by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley, as part of the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund which they founded in 2008, after they tragically lost their twenty-one-year-old son, James, to suicide, ten days following a minor operation. James went looking for someone to talk to about his anxiety and suicidal thoughts but sadly didn’t find the urgent help he so desperately needed within a system that is already stretched to breaking point. As a result, Clare and Nick have set up James' Place to address this very issue - to support and listen to men who would like to talk and share how they are feeling, with people who understand and care, during their time of need.
