Ciaran
Head of James' Place Birmingham
Ciaran is an experienced senior leader within mental health, with over 10 years’ experience working in a variety of settings across Birmingham. Ciaran qualified as a counsellor in 2015 with a passion for developing high quality services, having held senior clinical management roles at Kooth Plc and Place2Be. Ciaran is thrilled to be leading the Birmingham team at James’ Place to support the men of our diverse communities within the West Midlands. Ciaran has previously volunteered for SHOUT UK textline and also been a registered foster carer.
Lisa
Birmingham Centre Manager
Lisa has over 12 years’ experience as a service manager in the voluntary sector, leading counselling and family support services ensuring people receive compassionate, effective service when they need it most. Before joining James’ Place Birmingham as Centre Manager, Lisa held an operational management role at Relate Birmingham and the Black Country, where she was responsible for service delivery across the West Midlands. During this time, she managed large-scale commissioned and self-referred counselling provision, working closely with partners and commissioners to ensure high-quality, accessible support for all. Passionate about collaboration and quality, Lisa is committed to providing support services where individuals feel safe, heard, and valued.
Ricky
Suicide Prevention Therapist
Ricky is a BACP Accredited Therapist, providing a compassionate and tailor-made approach to his therapeutic work. His journey as a therapist is underpinned by diverse cross-cultural aspects and working with a diverse range of issues from anxiety, depression, identity issues, addiction, self-harm, sexuality, trauma and suicide. His varied background enables him to connect with clients from all walks of life, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges they may face. Ricky is passionate about supporting people from diverse communities and creates a safe, comforting, flexible, inclusive, empathetic, open and confidential space in which people can explore their thoughts and feelings freely.
Ian
Suicide Prevention Therapist
Ian is a BACP-accredited integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who offers an empathic, professional space for clients to navigate life’s challenges. His experience supporting people in crisis began through volunteering with the Samaritans. He has since worked as a therapist in a charity supporting clients to reduce self-harming behaviours, within an inpatient unit, and for both a private wellbeing provider and an Employee Assistance Programme service. He is passionate about supporting individuals in distress, and helping them to move towards meaningful, lasting change.
