James' Place opens new satellite service in St Helens
James' Place
09/07/26

At James’ Place we are doing everything we can to stop men dying by suicide. Following the opening of our Darlington satellite service last year, we have now opened a second satellite service based in St Helens.
This is part of a 12 month pilot project, funded by The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales as part of the National Suicide Prevention Network and The Erie Foundation, which will allow us to test whether smaller satellite services in the community, strongly linked into our existing larger centres, can be an effective way to deliver the unique, free and life-saving therapy we offer to men in suicidal crisis.
Our therapists will be delivering our service in St Helens from The Beacon, YMCA, ST Helen’s North Road two days a week by appointment only. The aim is to reach men who may face barriers in attending their nearest James’ Place centre in Liverpool.
The St Helens service will initially be open to referrals from Mersey Care First Response Service Mid Mersey. If you are a man in suicidal crisis in St Helens or surrounding area, or know a man in crisis, please contact your local crisis team by calling 111 and selecting option two or go to your local A&E.
Men in suicidal crisis wishing to refer themselves to James’ Place Liverpool can continue to do so here.
