James’ Place featured in prominent report
James' Place
24/07/26
We were proud to feature as a case study in a new report from NPC and Movember ‘The invisible field’ about the lack of funding for services and projects specifically targeted at young men. James’ Place is featured as an example of how specialist, gender-informed crisis support can be successful in preventing suicide in men.
The report found that only 1.09% of youth funding between 2020 and 2025 went to organisations specifically focused on boys and young men.
This lack of targeted investment means many boys and young men are unable to access the right support early enough, allowing avoidable problems to escalate to crisis point.
James’ Place is included in the report as a case study for effective, gender-specific crisis services. The report says our “approach demonstrates that effective support for men may depend not only on what is offered, but how it is offered: in ways that feel timely, accessible, non-clinical, and tailored to men who may not otherwise seek or receive help.”
