In June 2018, HRH The Duke of Cambridge opened James’ Place, the first Centre of its kind in the UK. Since we saw our first man in August, we have supported over 100 men and counting through their suicidal crisis.
We know that men find it very difficult to ask for help and sometimes talking about their thoughts of suicide can exclude them from some services. We provide a safe and effective intervention that is available at the point of crisis, that helps the man to understand how he got there and what is keeping the crisis going and importantly to learn new ways of coping that will help if they are faced with a similar set of circumstances in the future.
We know that it can difficult to tell the people that you care about that you’re having thoughts of killing yourself. We will support you in bringing your family and friends together so that we can be part of the team helping you through this crisis.
We believe that every suicide is preventable, at James’ Place we work with men to help them rediscover hope and reasons for living.
