James’ Place Liverpool is temporarily moving online
James' Place
23/03/20
At James’ Place, it is our priority to protect the health and wellbeing of people we support, staff and volunteers.
Due to the recent updating of Government guidelines regarding the response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, James’ Place now offers online and telephone therapy to men in the Liverpool area. The centre will temporarily stop offering face to face intervention as from Monday 23 March.
While there has been no known case of the disease among our staff or people visiting the centre, we feel that we need to comply to the national response to delay further propagation.
If you are already seeing a therapist
We will continue to support the men already in our therapeutic care via phone or video calls. We will prioritise men who need our urgent attention based on our initial assessment, and may delay therapy sessions for a few weeks for men who feel this is appropriate.
The online therapeutic session will still be a one-to-one meeting with a trained professional, and clients will have their focused and undivided attention during that hour. It’s particularly important in these difficult times that we use our therapists’ time as well as possible. We are continuing to book and manage each appointment so it’s specific to each man, at a time that suits him.
If you need help but haven’t been in touch yet
We have limited availability to offer therapeutic care during this period. Every referral will be assessed on a case by case basis. We can still only take referrals for men in suicidal crisis in the Liverpool area. You can find more information about who we can support here.
If you have recently visited our centre and are experiencing symptoms of the virus
If you are experiencing the symptoms of the virus (a new cough or a high temperature), please follow the NHS guidelines, stay at home and call 111. If you have recently visited our centre, please do contact us to let us know as soon as possible.
We will follow this plan until further notice.
